The basement wall forms are up and ready to be poured. It’s beginning to look like a house!
New Home
A Firm Footing
We couldn’t go any longer without seeing the progress on the build site, so we made a quick trip down this evening. The footings are in and things are coming along nicely. Lee enjoyed climbing the big dirt piles, and we finished the evening off by picking up little square bales from our front yard!
Groundbreaking
Today was the much awaited groundbreaking! We couldn’t be there for it, but Laci snapped a few pictures for us.
Staking the House
We got a call today from our contractor, Colt Quadhamer, and he said that the foundation guys were ready to start digging the basement tomorrow. They were meeting at the site to do the final elevations and layout for the house. We shuffled a few things around on our schedule and were able to make it down there to finalize the positioning of the house.
Fortunately Rob had just recently swathed the alfalfa, but we had to move a few windrows to get the final lines painted in. We’re really excited to see what the next week will bring!
We Have a Driveway!
Rob began hauling in dirt as a base for our driveway. We are getting some railroad rock delivered soon to help build a solid foundation as well.
