4th of July Weekend

July 8, 2010 By Wade Leave a Comment

This weekend we went down to the Wilson farm Saturday afternoon.  Lee got a chance to sit in the combine with Grandpa.  Then on Sunday we went to Alma and had lunch and afternoon activities with the Hogelands.  This was the first time Lee and Emerson met.

Lee’s 6-Month Checkup

June 29, 2010 By Wade Leave a Comment

Today was Lee’s six-month checkup.  He was 15 lbs. 11 oz. and 27″ long.  He is still in the 75th percentile for his length, but he dropped down to the 25th percentile for his weight.  If they had a cheek percentile I’m sure he would be in the mid to high 90’s!  Since he dropped down on his weight percentile we let him pig out when he got home.

Long Weekend at Grandma & Grandpa Wilson’s

June 27, 2010 By Wade Leave a Comment

Lee’s daycare was closed Thursday and Friday, so he enjoyed a long weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Wilson.  He had a good time playing with his two cousins and the kitten, and went swimming for the first time.  Amber and I went down Friday night and we all came back Sunday.

Weekend Road Trip

June 20, 2010 By Wade Leave a Comment

On Saturday Amber, Lee, and I embarked on a road trip through the sandhills of Nebraska.  Our primary destination was the Eclipse Church & Cemetery, northwest of Tryon.  Through our family history research we had discovered that my third great-grandfather, Alexander (aka Elik) Gibson and his wife, Ellen, are buried there.

Let me tell you, this place is way out there!  It is at the head of the south fork of the Dismal River, just below Cody/Jeffords lake.  It was very remote, but the church and cemetery are in amazingly good shape.  After a short search we were able to locate their headstone.  You can read more about Alexander Gibson on his pages in our Family History section.  It was too ironic that on this Father’s day weekend we searched out and found the last resting place of our distant father who migrated from Ireland so many years ago.
